Stress is not bad

Kara Shaw

Stress is good.

Maybe this is the first time you have heard this, or maybe you just need to be reminded, so I'll go on...

Stress is necessary for life to exist.

Stress makes things happen. It moves the mark.

There are studies that show that stress is actually more beneficial and less detrimental to those who look at stress as a good thing.. and way more damaging to those who look at it as "bad". So I repeat.. stress is not bad.

I want my stress to be beneficial to me and the world. I want it to move me to do good things, not hurt me, kill me, or hurt others.

So what makes stress good or bad? It's not the stress itself...

Exercise is Stress. Is it bad? No. Well, it can be, if in excess, or if too little.

Same as Stress. Too little stress is just as bad! It will kill you. It will suck the life right out of you...you have no purpose, no desire, no drive. Those are all things that warrant some stress. Without those things, it drains your life. With purpose comes a certain level of stress, a good level. A level of resistance, hurdles, lessons, struggle... and overcoming! Breaking through! Achieving! These things are are the essence of life - only when we have the right intentions, though. The right intentions make the difference between making good things happen for all of mankind and the planet, OR making bad things happen for all of mankind and the planet. Even small things with the wrong intentions can have a devastating effect.. For certain, all our actions have some effect on all of mankind and the planet. All of them. Our job is merely to change our intentions, so that every effect we have is a positive one.

Let's look at some more examples:

Words – are they good or bad? I would say they can be great with the right intent, and very bad with the wrong intent. But still, where would we be without them?

Water – life sustaining, but also can kill people when there is too much (floods, tsunamis, etc)

The Sun – life sustaining, but too much or getting too close can burn you.

Power – good, but not in balance and not with the right intention, you will see greed and ego take over and cause evil in the world.

Influence – good.. one caveat, with the right intentions..

Money – money is physical representation of energy. It is generally good, but it can be bad when used for the wrong thing, when given too much value, when received from ill means.

Working For Money – necessary, but the wrong intent, ultimately. Working for JUST money will end up with negative results. Working for God, for helping others, for helping a company to keep others fed, for PURPOSE... Those are all good intentions for work. Purpose doesn't have to be over thought, either. If you are helping others, making the world a better place, that IS purpose. Don't get lost in making finding a specific career your purpose. Purpose is about accomplishing positivity on earth. Doesn't matter what your career is, really. If you feel inclined to do a certain thing, then it's probably for a reason, but if you don't, then maybe your purpose is just to help, period. Doesn't matter where.

I can say that, as a boss, it is very rare to find an employee who is truly focused on helping, and even those that generally are focused on helping, at times lose their focus and become focused on their own gain, or even just their own fears. When bosses find a selfless person, they cherish them. A person who is always focused on serving at their job and has no other expectations, will always do well in the world and generally will always be happy and feel satisfied, regardless of the work, the pay, etc. We have to all dig in and do our own shadow work and find our true intentions and fears, specifically the ones we hide from our selves. Focusing on giving, makes you a very valuable team member and people can see it when it's real. They can see it when it's fake too... We tend to only fool ourselves, not others.

Intent cannot really be faked. You can “fake it till you make it”, but if you never make it, you still don't have the right intent, and people around you can feel that.

I digress...

The point is, there's nothing on earth that is wholly "good" or "bad".  But, anything “good” can be ruined by either imbalance or negative intentions.

Religion... So many examples here.. but ultimately, intentions make the difference between it hurting or helping.

Love... too much love of one's self, not enough..., too much love of money, or other idols. Love of material things, all wrong intention, and negativity ensues...

Sex - That's a whole other topic.. but still imbalance, and intention are what ruins it.

The only things in the world that are truly bad and truly make other things bad are imbalance and intention. Everything else is just a format for the projection of those two things.

So, back to stress... if we are feeling stress in a negative way, can we check our intent in whatever we are doing that is causing stress and correct it? Can we check to make sure that we are balanced with only the stress that makes things move, but does not affect our health or others negatively?

If you take anything from this, I hope you will go forward telling yourself, and others, “oh are you stressed, today?? That's a good thing, Stress is not bad!!"  The mere understanding of this fact changes it completely.  It changes the intent!
